Heres the problem..In my 97 253 the fuel gauge was reading sometimes and sometimes not..So i changed the sending unit. Before installing the sending unit i plugged in and tested the guage to make sure it was working. All works well..Install it into the tank and it works...Put the boat back in the garage and go out the next day..NOTHING..pull it out 2 more times to check and it works just not in the tank..Not sticking or hitting inside the tank but something is wrong..ANY IDEAS..what a pain in the A**..The new unit is the same thing i took out..gotta be something else..but WHAT..Thanks all..hope someone can help...surely someone has had this problem...could it be the ground?

I got a fuel sending unit from Livorsi Marine that works great . It's a tube style so the guage doesn't bounce much . I can't seem to find it at their web site , http://www.livorsi.com , but if you call them , they might be able to help you out . It' a 3 wire hookup .
