260/280 on 2100 pulsare???

12pack

Has anyone ever ran this combo? I don't recall ever seeing one. I'd imagine a 3.2 would get it on plane faster, but is also heavier... Curious what speeds one could see?

Just bought a 2100 LD w/ a 260 (blown). Owner claimed 80+mph. I think the 260/280 are ill suited to this hull and the 3 Liter motors are much better. Cubes needed to push hull, particularly out of the hole. Owner had a 19" inch prop on this thing to solve holeshot problem. There goes the top end. This is not a 550# Mirage.

Had a 280ROS and a 3.2 300 on the same 2100.

Not even a question that the 3.2 is superior in every way. The sound of the Offshore mid was the only thing I missed.

I have a 2100BR with a 280 with 12" set back...runs like a champ at 84!

250xs will run mid 80's on one.

My post was a bit short, but the above quotes make my point, the larger displacement motor makes a huge difference on this hull.

Another example is that Wildman on this site is pushing the upper 90s with a 300XS/2100. Although this is not the norm, many members have reached the low 90s.

Another thing to consider is the relatively maintenance free ownership of the 3.2. 260s/280s require more attention and
regimented maintenance programs for rings and more.

Good luck.
