hey guy's i have repaired my old block one to many times so i bought a 383 blueprint motor, my question is does mercruiser have a flywheel to put on the 400 crank that is in the 383 or will the stock flywheel bolt on, the motor will be here tomorrow and i have been getting all the pieces lined up, harmonic balancer , etc, etc, etc,, oh i got a 87 senator ,, thank you

You dont have to use a Merc flywheel. Any quality aftermarket wheel will do fine. The questions you have to know the answers to are:
What block do you have - 1 piece or 2 piece rear main seal?
Is your rotating assembly internally or externally balanced?
How many tooth flywheel is your starter set up for?

i'm surprised that stroker didn't come with a balancer and a flywheel wher'd ya get it from?

you will need a externly balanced flywheel, 400 and 454 use the same one, I think they use std trans flywheels..if so I do have 2 brand new ones that I bought with my 454's but on the boat I was doing it had a bell housing monted starter and the ring gear was on the wrong side, so if you have a std block mounted starter, you should should be right on if interested, Rob
