87 200 merc water pressure guage

i recieved in the mail 2day my water pressure guage. it is a teleflex kit. the instructions that came with it are very vauge as to where you hook it up at the motor! there is no 1/8 inch threaded hole or a cap on either of the heads. anyone hooked one of the up on an 87 200 merc?

There should be a brass plug either in one of the heads or on the top of the block. It may be painted black but it's there.

is there a chance it could be bigger(1/2-3/4)inch and i would have to use a reducer?

Well anything's possible but I'd say that's unlikely. Unless somebody had a reason to drill out that and re-tap that hole ( why?) I've not seen a water pressure plug that large.

Slow down and look again. It's there.

a very good chance.....on the top of motor.

mine has a line from the popet valve, but yours should just have a plug.

yes sir! right in between the two banks....... i would say it's closer to 3/4 inch. where would i get a reducer for that? down to 1/8 inch?

take it out, go to auto store, and get an adapter......take the fitting that goes with gauge also to save your self an "extra trip"

does this motor have a water-bypass hose? it says in the instructions that if it does not than a 1/8 female pipe by a 3/4 male pipe reducing bushing is required....... or a 22-36492(adaptor) from the local merc dealer.

just screw, with an adapter, into the pluged hole in your pictures. no worries, your done with that part.
