Adding full hydraulic steering to the 303

already have the builder just didn't know what I could expect for a cost stand point for all the parts. I was thinking a save estimate of 6k a piece. This sound right?

well went with the mayfair full kit. The fit and finish of these parts are absolutely amazing. Never realized how big a steering ram is until it's off the boat. Also picked up a pair of merc 280's. Now just need some mechanical indicators and cables and then I have the 303 right where it should've been from the factory in the first place. Now just need to get everything installed. planning on re-doing the engines next winter. Any ideas what it would cost to turn some 502 mag mpi's into some 509's with a good set of dart heads?

I've done the MPI thing, I don't recommend modding it N/A. Biggest HP killer on that motor is the MPI intake. What year are your motors? If you have Mefi3 computer, I would keep that fuel injection, then do heads, can, intake, and 4 barrel throttle body. Otherwise the most painless and economical HP boost you can get would be a set of prochargers. I got 620 HP out of my old short lived MPI motor, but it was expensive and a complete PITA. Everything needed a bandaid or sidestep work around because of its limited potential.

Better question would be how much HP are you looking for and what's your budget?

engines are 2001's so I believe they are the mefi3. Don't really have a budget since I have all year to get parts. Not looking to go huge on the power but would like to have around 525-550 a side. I thought about just getting prochargers but I think that would drastically reduce the engine rebuild intervals. Plus with those I think I would also need to upgrade the B1's out back. Boat should run right @ 75 with the new props and exhaust that i added over the winter. just looking to get it around the 83-84 gps range.

well, took a good look at the steering kit and the 5 boxes it came in and said eff that. lol. Decided to let the professionals handle this one. Took it up to see Jason and he's performing surgery on it now. Kind of nice to have the checkmate guru's only an hour north!! Doing the full steering kit, mechanical indicators, nice new fancy pants steering wheel and a manifold and riser install ( stainless marine). Hopefully it'll be done in a few weeks. Just need some new props and I'll be all set!!!

I can't wait to get this thing back and on the lake. Should be like getting a new boat again!! Hopefully, the mods are worth it.
