I was just wondering.
This past weekend was a blast on my boat.
However it was the busiest I have ever seen table rock in a long time
I had my wife and kid with me and they don't like to jump.
We were in 3-4 footers most of the day driving slow about 30-40.
The boat took the abuse just fine.
But i was wondering if some weight in front would help it wave crush a little bit rather than hop every single wave.
I tried my tabs but I really don't like how the boat handles with them any place but up.
I would only use it in situations where it's really busy and I have my family.
I bet a couple hundred pounds either up in the nose or between the couches would make it better in big water.
Anyone ever tried?
Just curious.

Do you have tabs or K planes. The reason I ask is there is a huge difference. The planes make my boat so much more manageable.

They are 24 inch livorsi tabs.
With them down the boat slams real hard.
And with them down it leans really bad when I turn.

It was manageable, just seemed to hop on every wave.
Not the checkmate bounce, I'm just watching big open bows and other boats with more weight toward the front not bounce as much.
This is why I had the idea.

I ended up with 200 lbs in front of the mirror on my twin OB 251. Had 250, but one came loose and made a mess, so now its 200.
The weight really calmed down the cruise porpoise, and it handled 1-4' waves at mid speeds fine. I'm calling waves 1-4, but could have been more, we were getting bounced around pretty good, so took a little break. While sitting there, a 38 Fountain passed by, and they were getting bounced around pretty good as well, which made me feel a little better

I have Bennett tabs, and it really needs them in 2-4' chop as the bow wants to fly pretty high off the waves in the 35-45ish range. Thats with engines tucked all the way in. Found a little better water, and at full throttle in 1-3 foot waves, it handles SO much better, and flew level with engines level, but still needed a little tab

I started out with 500lbs up front, and moved it around until boat handled nice, and could still get the bow up on the top end, but that was on a lake. Thinking about how it drove with all that weight up front, I think it would really calm it down in the waves

Think I might take a couple bags with us next time out, and see if a little more makes a noticeable difference

I see my 259 doing bunny hopping every boatride. What i do is running harder to 50/55 miles an hour wich gives me a stable ride with the bigger waves on the rivers here.
For the 35/45 miles an hour range i have no solution.

Your trim tabs will calm that at lower speeds.
