Well I have been searching for a checkmate for next boating season, and trying to find the right one and in my budget. In my searching I came across this, its not quite what I was looking for but for the price couldn't go wrong it is a project but after seeing the guys on here rebuilding these old school water rockets I thought why not have a little project on the side while I keep searching and will see what happens. The guy said it is a very good solid project with one small soft spot which he noticed. (You know what that means) he also said it has performance steering I figured for $375 I couldn't go wrong. This could be interesting what do you think? any suggestions.

Wow

Looks like you have some work ahead of you, but for $375 I think you did good.

We'll see when you get into it!

What is that attached to the transom? Looks like some sort of reinforcing, hope the transom is good.

Good luck, and thanks for saving another old mate!:thumb:

I asked the same thing and was told that the previous owner was a airplane mechanic and he built a sleeve that fit over the transom for better support and to protect the transom from motor mounting we will see.

Look to be a good project. Your steering is no a performance setup so if your planning any HP be aware of that. Good luck with your build.

i saw that just the other day, looked like a deal, but i need another project like i need a hole in the head!!

keep us posted!!:thumb:

I really don't need another project but couldn't resist. it's only about 35 minutes from where I live and for the price why not! reading what others are saying on the forum it looks like it could be a fun project.I pick it up this weekend and will take more pictures and post them. More then likely I will need help from the pros from this forum and and will appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Well just got back, was in hopes of picking up a 78 16ft project predictor. The price was good $375 and was hoping to pull it home, unfortunately there was an issue with the hull. I didn't like at one point in the mid section of the hull there is a repair and a shabby job at that. It was patched with a filler maybe marine tex, probably a foot in length everything else would have been fine. I was even hoping for the worst which was replacing the floor and transom, but to me once a hull has been breeched it is not the same structurally. Some may tell me different that if I was going to have the floor out anyways I could have did a good job repairing the hull right. But I would never feel secure at any speed knowing the hull had a bad spot what do you think? I offered him $200 dollars after driving there and seeing it, but he said he had to get $325 out of it. I wish he would have mentioned that before I made the drive.
