Checkmate & Hustler Great Experience

I have been around boats most of my life and became a first boat owner in 2011 with a Pulsare 2000BR with 150HP XS that I purchased direct from Bob Gendelman at PBS Yacht Sales in PA. The buying experience and support over the past few years has been excellent.

This year I had the itch to go bigger and faster and recently purchased privately a 2012 2400BRX with a 300 Pro four stroke. During the purchase process there were some warranty and non warranty areas that needed to be addressed. I purchased the boat in Long Island NY, and the person I was buying the boat from contacted Joe at Hustler/Checkmate to see if he could do the work that was needed. Joe immediately extended his willingness to help do all that was asked.

I had not met or spoken to Joe until I went to pick up the boat at his factory in LI, NY. When I went in to meet Joe, he was incredibly nice and personally showed me the work he did on my 2400BRX. He installed a tower, did some excellent fiberglass work, and many other items were addressed.

He then gave me a tour of the factory and it was truly amazing to see all the passion and experience that was going into each and every design. It was obvious how much he loved building and owning both Hustler and Checkmate boats and his dedication to the quality, customers, and the need for speed... I was impressed with the dozens of off shore race boats, and a new off shore sport fishing boat. He also showed me some new graphics that will be coming out for the 2014 Checkmates, nothing less than what you would expect.

I asked if I could take a few pictures and he introduced me to his nephew Paul who emailed me a few that I will try to load. Thanks Paul!

Overall the experience was great and I would like to give a shout out to Joe and his staff for what looks to be a great future for both Checkmate and Hustler.

Thank you,
Chuck

Awesome news that he was willing to help with warranty issues on a boat built and sold before his ownership. To me that's a standup businessman. I heard of D.S. denying warranty claims on boats before his ownership.

Doug did just that. I am extremely happy to hear that the new ownership is not following in his foot steps.

That's awesome, sounds like Checkmate is in really good hands!!! Right from the get-go i've thought Hustlers merger with Checkmate was gonna be the best thing that could ever happen to Checkmate, a win-win for both companies!! Those are couple sweet Hustlers pictured too, love the paint scheme on the "Razor"!! Can't wait to see what they have in store for Checkmate!!

I called Hustler a few times before buying the slingshot and they were very helpful (and fast) about getting me the information that I needed. Its great that you call a place and there are actually people there that answer the phone and are able and willing to help!

My brother in law tried to call Skater for a week and a half for some information about his boat and no one picked up the phone. Finally after a few weeks he was able to get a hold of somebody.

That rocket looks simply badazz! And diesel ! Wonder which engine she runs and the number she puts down.:thumb:

love the paint scheme on the "Razor"!!

Man I also love the looks of that Razor!!!!!!!

As already said........ this merger maybe the best thing to happen for both Hustler and Checkmate.
Two GREAT lines of boats being run by stand up buisness people who have the love and passion for performance boats......
A recipe for success I would say :thumb:
