Checkmate Pacifica

Hey Guys,

This one is mostly for my Ontario pals.

I was doing a delivery today to a customer and what do I see near the corner of Yonge & Major Mac in Richmond Hill? A Checkmate Pacifica for sale in someone's driveway. I did a double take. It's dark blue and white with a full canopy top. It looks to be in decent shape. It's a really big, deep, boat. I didn't realize how big this particular model is.

Anyhoo, if anyone is interested let me know and I'll give more details as to where it is. If someone needs me to check into it, I can probably do that for you.

Hi Guys, here's a Scouting Report on this one. I did a driveby about an hour ago and took along a pencil and paper.

According to the note that the Seller has posted it's a 1993 Pacifica 198, however, as you can tell from the serial number below it's a 1990. The seller had a business card available, he is a Insurance Broker, this may explain the inaccuracy of the year, meaning, this may not necessarily be his boat.

Here are the Details

I would rate it at 7/10, no damage to the Hull, but has noticeble scratches. Interior looks pretty good and comes with a full top and bow cover.

1990 Pacifica 198 Serial # CHK39710K990

V8 350 cu inch 260 Horsepower
(not accessible for a look)

Alpha 1 Outdrive - Serial # 0D310125
outdrive is apparently 2-3 years old with approx 25 hours (looked good)

Trailer Included - looked acceptable

Asking $15,000 (Canadian) or Best Offer

Mon - Thur 9:00 - 4:00 pm

Greg 905 884-8297

Seems a little high to me, Nada suggests a retail of approx $6,000 (Canadian) . As I suggested above, he feels it's a 1993 when in reality it's a 1990, could be a bargaining tool if interested.

Take Care

Bruce

Me Again, it's the same year and model type as the Pacifica a couple of posts down. This one is Blue and White and not in as good as shape as the one in the pictures from Mike D.

For what it's worth

and to add a little more to Bruce's info:

The boat was sold by a former muskoka checkmate dealer in may of 1991. the drive is not new but original although it may have new insides - unless the lower was replaced or something. looks like the engine is a 350 mag. no warranty claims or recalls. i think i worked on this boat we - had 2 of them that summer - one we sold one we didn't - must've hung around for abit before they sold it.

I can tell you, this is one big deep boat. As I mentioned, I've never seen one "in the flesh" before, and I was surprised at just how big this boat is.

If someone is looking for a lake boat that can handle some rougher stuff, this would be a good boat for you. I doubt you'll set any speed records with this one though.

Hi guys. Thanks to the wonders of Google, I typed in "Checkmate Pacifica" and was directed to your site.

My buddy just put a deposit on a white w/red metalflake striped '90 Pacifica. It's got the 5.7/Alpha combo with a white with red accented interior. It originally came from Ohio and had a female owner as the first. Sharp boat!

This is evidently a rare model. The owner says only 17 were produced in '90. Any truth to this number?

I'm a Donzi guy, so I don't really know these boats. Is it a 60 mph boat with the 5.7?

Anything for my buddy to be on the lookout for? Any known troubles?

Thanks in advance.

Randy

I seen some handling issues when driving the Pacifica. You would definately need trim tabs on it. If you are talking about the one in Lansing, I had put a deposit on that one also, but having to put trim tabs on it, I didn't want the extra cost. Contact me if you want anymore info. ksrusl@kevtech.com
