Checkmate Senator too slow....

bigger cam, open up the exhaust, port the heads..... etc. cheap and boats and performance dont go well together. boat=Bring Out Another Thousand.

just called Checkmate factory and spoke with service. They recommend a 3 blade 25 for the Senator.

Just wanted to share

Shawn
Thanks. But I think it would still depend on what engine you have..

How fast does your 7.2L Senator run? I think it would be a noticeable difference compared to 5.8L.

Update.

Yesterday was first time this year with my checkmate on water, it ran 50mph with some trim up, pushing about 3600 rpm's. The water was a bit rough and I had maybe 300lb of stuff in the bow of boat. I think it was quite an achievement compared to 37 mph.

dump all the junk. weight costs speed. keep trimming it up till you get to 4400 rpm. just keep playing with the trim in rough water trim in a bit to bring the bow down to soften the ride cut thru the waves.get some seat time and expiriment with the trim till u find out where u like it. different water conditions require different trim angles.

I was trimming it up until there was 50 feet long rooster tail behind the boat. Second try the boat started porpoising. Next time I'll experiment on another lake with smoother water.
How does hydrofoil affect the top speed?

I have a checkmate starfire 4.3 merc and i have a 23 pitch prop on it and it was slow getting out of the water because of that big of a prop on that boat. So i bought a Cobra professional planing and stabilizes i bought it out of overtons. And we took it out the next day and got right on plain and i dont think it slows me down. I would recomend you buying that if you want the speed or if you dont get smaller prop.
