Checkmate Vs. Scarab

Got out on the water last weekend. Met a guy with a Wellcraft Scarab (21 or 22 footer) with a 454. The first time we ran I had 7 people in the boat and it was from about 20mph.... He won, obviously.

The video below is really bad, but at least I have video, LOL. He ended up passing me after about a mile, but I had kind of figured I had clearly won, so I was not at WOT........

I was running my 22 pitch instead of my 4 blade 24..... wished I would not have changed props to the 22. I also wish it would have been ALOT less choppy, but we can't always get what we want.

NOTE: The guy shooting the video was LOADED, and his choice of vocabulary may offend some delicate ears, so turn the volume down.

f*** that b**** ... f*** that b****
Losing the 1/4 mile but still flooring it for another 3/4, lol. He should have quit as soon as he saw the word "Checkmate".

trim that bad boy up a lil' more next time!!! i think you would have toated his a**!!!!!

It sucks getting beat but that helps you get in gear about super tuning your set up. I have only been out run once and that was by another Checkmate that had 2 300's hanging off the back. I can be out run but I have chosen my matches wisely. Most of my races where provoked by other boats. At least you got footage thats rare. And to race a 20-21 foot boat with a 454 thats a challenge.

Man I hate to say it, but isn't the Scarab the Winner? Would also like to hear your true GPS speeds. I'm gonna be guessing that Scarab will do low to mid 60's.

We weren't even running the GPS.... Couldn't handle the extra 6 ounces of weight with all the coolers, girls' stuf (3 girls equals 125 lbs of stowed gear), skiis, boards, and empty beer cans.... It was all I could do to keep the co-pilot upright in the passenger seat..... The Scarab owner says he runs 62 on GPS.....
