MY 79' PREDICTOR HAS A BAD HABIT OF CHINEWALKIN STARTING AT 50 MPH. IT SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY STEERING PLAY. I'VE CK THE MOTOR MOUNTS (86' SUZUKI DT 140) AND THEY FEEL TIGHT. CAN ANYBODY RECCOMEND A STEERING SETUP THAT WON'T BREAK THE BANK......THANKS.

Your chine walk is definitely caused by loose motor mounts and sloppy steering. Make those tight and you can literally go as fast as your motor is capable of pushing you without any chine walk. Solid motor mounts are cheap. Steering not so cheap but its an investment in your safety. I run a seastar pro setup. Put off changing it for years. Wish I hadn't. I can tool right up to 90+ MPH now like driving 45 MPH used to be with the old single cable steering.

If there is a way to add a second cable easily then do so. On my predictor the helm already had room to put in a second cable, so I just had to buy it and the Mercury kit for adding the second cable. If you have to replace everything, then you might as well get a hydraulic system.

Look into the Uflex Silver series hydraulic. Very well made and priced a little lower than the SeaStar in my experience.
