Christmas Treat

Hi Gang,

You might have noticed that we were down tonight for an hour or so, as I had to do some software upgrades.

While I had the board down, I recreated some of the old vintage board themes from years gone by.

I know some of you "old-timers" like some of the old forum colours that we use to use, back in the day. Our current and newest theme I've titled "Checkmate Forums 2009".

The last few before that I've nicknamed "Checkmate Forums 2006" (the old white theme) & "Checkmate Forums 2004" (the old red/grey/black theme). These later of the two (Checkmate Forums 2004) is as accurate as I can make it given that we are now using different software (vBulletin) versus our old Eve software.

I've also adapted one of our old alternative themes to approximate the look we had back when we started up in 2003. I can probably make it more accurate by updating the background if you guys want me to. Believe it or not, I've still got the old background kicking around. Right now I've recyled one of the old red water background that we had on one of our old alternative themes. The original background was partially red, so using that one seemed to make sense.

You can select the different themes at the bottom of the board and you'll see each "approximate" era listed.

Checkmate Forums 2009-Current New Theme
Checkmate Forums 2006-Old "Retro" White Theme
Checkmate Forums 2004-Old "Retro" Red/Grey/Black Theme
Checkmate Forums 2003-Old "Retro" Red/Grey Theme

Hope you enjoy. :)

Here's a few old screenshots from back in early '06 when we left Eve and moved to vBulletin. I think the new retro vintage theme looks pretty good. :)

I redid a few more old goodies on the 2003 era theme. Believe it or not that's the original board background from that time. I also dug out the old Infopop era post status light bulb icons.

I'll see what else I can dig out. ;)

I managed to dig up a few old screen shots of what I believe is the first theme when we moved to Eve.

I had actually forgotten about this theme until I saw it. It was teal, red and grey.

These are old screen shots of what the forums looked like on approximately April 17, 2003.

Notice the member count? ;) :)
