Has anyone ever tried a cleaver? Not really sure what the good and bad are on those, could be fun to try.

A cleaver is a stern lifting prop. Not what a Checkmate really needs or likes. I have run one just to play around but the boat didn't feel very good once it got past 100.

So was your boat going 67 with the drive trimmed all the way in? If so that 30 p may be the right prop for you proper trim attitude would be worth the 800 Rpms your looking for and a bunch of speed to boot if you have the drive tucked all the way in you don't get any bow lift which you need to get air under the boat
