i have been looking to buy a gps for the boat. my handheld just doesn't do it anymore. i have looked at the garmin 430 and 530 but they are a lil' pricey. any of you guys have the humminbird or something similar? give me your advice. thanks

I personally like the gauge GPSs... they are somewhere between 2-300 I think, but they look MUCH better than a huge screen IMO. I was trying to find a few to compare, but all I could find are the ones Livorsi makes. Anyone know of others?

i'm not looking for a gps guage. i want a marine downloaded(inland lakes) gps for routing and such:bigthumb: then i can come back in after dark and not worry. also when i'm up at my dads on the island i know where the scholls are!

Ross, do some review searching on the internet i was looking last week and i could be wrong but i thought garmin was the way to go.

Sorry to dilute your thread.

Thanks, I appreciated it- I didn't realize Ross was looking for navigation as well when I originally replied.

I'm going to get a new Garmin that has the NEMA 2000 output and link it to my Smartcraft gauge. Best of both worlds. GPS speed on the speedo and charts for navigation.

The resolution of the new Garmins is much better than HB imo.

Well there is always the couple gps apps on the iphone. The one I have works great, charts where i've been and how long and stuff.
