Engine Hatch Mirror

I mirrored my previous boat hatch. I think looks great. Depending on how thick the material is you may have to be concerned about the acrylic mirror cracking or getting "funhouse" mirror distortion. I used some rubber washers to hold mine on. This would allow a small amount of flex/movement. I know other people who actually contact cemented theirs. I liked the idea of easy removal/replacement if necessary.

It would be awesome if Lakeside could hook you up with material. Some times that's the hardest part of the project is locating material. Lakeside could probably offer some installation tips too !

Good Luck !

I'm going to use a polished alum sign panel that we use here, looks like a mirror and will not crack/chip etc....Rob

Thanks guys! This one is not at the top of my list yet because it is always easy to remove the hatch and do this project. I just do not see many checkmates with mirrors on the hatch so eventually I will go for it. Just need to figure out the correct steps to take.

i will be doing mine over the next month or so as its still winter here, my plan is 2 pieces of mirior stainless and use existing hardware (my hatch has one center lift not 2 outers) so i might split it, i might remove the bracket and do it in 1 piece.
i will get pics once im done and let you know what i did and hope that helps you out.
ps, sick boat you have there
