Favourite Mate of all time?

Status
Not open for further replies.
My Top 5

Exciter I/O
Predictor
Sportfire I/O or OB
Playmate GT
Starflite

HOWEVER I LOVE ALL CHECKMATES. YOUNG OR OLD, BIG OR SMALL.

But what about the boats that were available in multiple decades? ie: Starflite/Starliner, etc. Would the boat fall into the decade it was introduced?

CHRIS, can you start a poll with all models? i dont know how many there are but...... it would be cool if there was a thread with a running poll.

it could be titled somthing like "checkmate owners top 5 picks"
we could all pick 5 out of the large list of models.

is such a large poll possible?

Matt,

With this software, it only does a total of five options.

Maybe to get this thing going again we should just do it by decade. 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's.

What do you think?

going by decades sounds good but what about what rob said?

Hey Chris
When are we going to settle this question? I think "Favorite Mate of all time" means just that. Only one winner! Let's take the top 5 nominations and put it to a vote.

Okay I tallied all the votes and the top ranking Checkmates are as follows:

Model Votes

2100 Pulsare........12
Starflite...........12
Predictor...........6
Platymate GT........6
Sportfire...........5
253 Convincor.......4
Vision..............4
Enchanter...........4
Pulse 185...........3
ZT230...............2
Enforcer............2
Convincor 251.......2
Starliner...........2
Trimate.............2
Exciter.............2
Persuader Jet.......2

The following had one vote:
Pulsare 200
Jetmate
Persuader
Strobe 201
Persuader Cat
Pulsare 2400
Spectra 201
Pulse 171/170
Convincor 300
Convincor 281
Starfire
Diplomat
Senator
28' Convincor Twin O/B
1972 MX-15
1970 MX-16
1971 MX-14
1971 MX-15
1970 MX-18

Not to muddy the waters, but there are a few that should be considered only one since they are the same hull; Predictor/Enticer, Sportfire/Diplomat, Starflite/Starliner. Then we wouldn't have to seperate out a Pulsare between hard deck and bowrider. I think I would like to see all the Convincors run as one as well as the ZT's. Then I think we have a horse race (pun intended).

How about doing the decades first and then each decade winner goes into a final poll of five?

So we have a 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's favourite model official poll. Then each winner of it's decade goes into a final poll which will be the winner.

I wonder if Kip could give us sales numbers on the models? Which I/O and which OB model sold the most over the years?

Sounds like a plan!

Binging up my point again...what about models that were available in two decades? Do we go by the decade it was introduced?
