Not getting out much this summer, and when I do something comes up.
Still haven't fixed the jackplate adjustment bolts, so still sitting 3-4 inches below the pad.
Last time out ran on 3 cylinders.....replaced the switchbox and now a-OK, even picked up some volts on the meter......is 14+ normal.
Took her out on some flat everglades water......idling a little rough with a miss at idle.....all I could get was 47mph gps @ 5000rpm at WOT.

Finally took the prop off its a Turbo SS 14 1/4 x 25...which seems the norm for my set-up by all the info on here....87 200 merc....runs good.
Any ideas?

Also at WOT after about 8 seconds rpms drop and pick up after a quick 3 seconds...feels like fuel starvation up top...doesn't do it cruzin at 35-40.
running a elctic remote fuel pump....not enough pressure?

Thanks for the imput.

Fix the jackplate.

What are your compression numbers?

If you replaced one switchbox you might not have done yourself any favors. They like to live in pairs and when one dies it often significantly degrades the other . When you add a new switch box the new one tends to degrade to the level of the older now degraded unit.

25 pitch might be a bit much for a weakened by 25 years of use piston ported 200 on a heavy boat especially run well under the pad. A LWPU and jack that motor up sky high and the prop will breath and push a lot better and have more top end.

What is your fuel pump and how much pressure are you running WOT? If you don't know , you need to find out.
