File size to BIG

Big Red

Well-known member
Chris,

I took a couple of pics from my phone of a checkmate on the lake. When I try to upload it, it tells me my file size is to big. I even stuck it on photo bucket and tried it that way and it still won't work.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can shrink it or upload it? I think the site allows around 122 kb and my pic is 151 kb.

Hi Red,

You can try uploading your pic to the photo gallery.

The gallery has built in compression and resizing capabilities so we allow slightly larger files to be uploaded to it.

Once you upload your pic to the gallery, you can then post it on the board by using the code that is provided by the gallery. The code will be listed in a box below your uploaded image.

If you want to resize or compress your image, you can try reducing the physical size as that will make it smaller in bytes. You can also just try compressing it slightly using photo editing software.

Give it a go, and let me know how you make out. :)

Chris:

How do I take my photo from the gallery and post it in the forum? I cannot figure this out. I see the clipboard, but I do not know what to do with it.

Thank you,
RED

Hey Red,

What you do is you click on the thumbnail photo of the pic you want to post.

You can then click on the medium photo and on some you can get an even larger photo.

Once that photo is displayed, there will be the image at the top and below it there will be an area where it says photo details.

In that area there will be two boxes. The first gives you code which if used will display a small thumbnail image which when clicked on displays a bigger image.

The second box, will give you code which will display a full size image right away.

So what you do is hit the "copy to clipboard" button. You may then be prompted to allow the code to be copied to your clipboard depending on your browser or security settings. Confirm that you want to copy the code.

At that point you just paste the code "as is" into your post and you'll get either a full size pic or thumbnail image depending on which box you cut and pasted.

When you paste the code into your post, you don't do it through the picture icon box, you just paste it in where you type your message. You can also post a message if you like, just position it above or below the image code that you pasted into your post.

Give it a try in this thread and I'll help you out. :)

Thanks Chris

You got me out of the hole again. I did copy stuff before to my clip board but I never new where it went. I know now that all that I have to do is paste it.

Thank you again

I'm glad you got it figured out. :)

The gallery is a kewl feature once you get used to it.

You can now keep a folder of all your pics if you upload to the gallery first.

Then whenever you want to post a particular pic, you just go into your personal folder and find the pic and link to it. :thumb:
