First test run, broke 60!!

I need to find a better way to measure where mine is at. I have a roller at the end of the trailer that gets in the way when I'm trying to use a straightedge to extend the pad.

As far as the V6 and seats, I'm guessing I'll need to run a bit lower than you since I have 80# less at one extreme, and 20# more at the other.
 
I Dont remember where im at, its been a while since i messed with anything on that boat....... but i do remember the jackplate is all the way up with no adjustment left, i need to let it back down 1/2" cause the feedback in the wheel is horrible..

from what i gather keep raisin' it up until you loseing water pressure or start slowing down.... im sure there are execptions but thats my $0.02

That's what I'm thinking too, but I'm pretty new to this. It was a real b!tch turning to the left without my torque tab yesterday! I can only imagine what a 200 would be like!
 
that little tab aint doin nothing for ya, its probably not even in the water anyway..:thumb:

i put a torque tab on the skeg it made a huge difference, but when i brought it up the last 3/4" inch it got bad again.
 
If that's outta the water, then I'd be surfacing the prop... isn't that bad on the gearcase?

I meant to ask what the ToP looked like from the side... I know it looked big before, but with it jacked up now it must look like a black building is chasing me.
 
Jacking it up higher will not make the boat hard to handle. That is coming from you going faster. The higher you jack the more slip you may get upon take off. You just have to feather it a bit and then hammer it when it bites.
 
Thanks again for the Bob's convertible recommendation... that helps takeoff a lot- I can't stand it up on end anymore... but it still gets on top of the water pretty quick with the 26.

I did talk to Teleflex and they're sending me a new pivot plate that will hopefully fix the problem with my steering kit. So who wants to do some boating in October???
 
I plan to start running the predictor on a regular basis now, the air is cool, & the weekend warriors are off the river, the water is flat and the speed #'s are good!! :thumb:
 
I ran it at .5 above the bottom. I think thats where BUSS is right now. When I had the LaserII I ran it about an 1" below.
No hijack intended but since were talking motor height.
If I raise my motor above 2.5" below pad it wants to push the boat off the pad at speed.
Can anyone explain?

My best performance is at about 3" below even thought I have plenty of water Pres. at higher settings the boat does not respond well.:confused:

That may be the start of your boat actually getting up on the pad. Most boats have their own speed where all of a sudden the boat breaks free from the water and becomes more efficient. This is where you realy see some gains in MPH.

My boat will run all day at 61-62 mph and straight as an arrow, BUT if I can get it to that sweet spot it will break free and jump up to 65 or better and get a lil squirly.

I know you had mentioned that you use the trim when you have it lifted up. At speed, any trim above 0 will start to make the boat want to walk. A boat needs to be set up to run at 0 trim at WOT to get its best performance. If you can find the right amount of setback that enables you to use 0 trim, you are on top of your game. :bigthumb:
