fried rectifier wiring.

i went to replace my rectifier and found fried wiring. The two yellow wires..well they werent yellow anymore pretty much just burnt and bare. anyways... is it possible just to replace these wires? or do i have to replace the whole stator to get new wires. Is it fairly easy to get to after flywheel is removed?
 
I had problems with the rectifiers on my XR6, which eventually caused me to replace my stator. 1/2 of my stator was brown while the other half was original color. Several hundred dollars later, new stator/rectifiers I never had another problem..........
 
^^ thats encouraging haha. oh well i will just keep it charged until i can get a new stator. i was able to baby the old wires by wrapping them with shrink wrap. I chose to go the full-wave bridge rectifier route from radio shack. seams to be working but i think my stator is weak. Oh well--going to table rock tomorrow. The resort we are staying at has high and dry storage and they will put the boat on a charger every night anyway.
 
You can do a really simple Ohms test on that stator if you have a multi meter.
A Clymer manual will walk you right through it, it would only take about 10 -15 min. on an inline, and think its a pretty easy stator change if its anything like my V6 two piece fly wheel. I just changed mine last week probably about an hour total including the diagnostics. I have the manual for you motor, If you dont have one I may be able to list the steps for you. Let me know.
 
I have seen several motors that caught fire because
they were let go until proper repairs were going to be done.
