gains from vortec heads, performer intake, matched cam kit and roller rockers

looking to put vortec heads on my 350 and was wondering what are the best casting #'s to use on a marine engine

im also going to run a high rise intake and some sort of performance cam kit to match the vortec heads and roller rockersignition and a set of performance exhaust manifolds with the stainless risers if in the budget at that time.

what kind of gains would i be looking at?

is anyone running vortec heads on their boat?

You need to be careful with the vortec heads, they will increase your compression a good bit. Also, before you go buying an intake do some research. You may be better off with a dual plane. MKhammer will be able to tell you what heads, cam, and intake will work together the best. Just buying a bunch of go faster parts and bolting them on doesn't always make you faster. You need a good combo! Just my $.02

this sounds like another motor like gimmefuel has.....it sits in the back of the boat, on the trailer:rof: sorry i had to;)

yeah i have been talking to him about a 383 swap but i dont think its going to be in my budget this year so im looking for basicly a top end kit to keep me happy for about a season then comes a 383 or something along those lines or bigger

Hey, it looks really purdy sittin on the stand though......:bigthumb:

Someday it will make it through a whole season.....

you will gain about 50 hp over std heads and cast iron intake, done a few works great, run about 26-28 deg total timing performer intake, 650-750 carb...

Something to think about, the vortec heads will increase compresson but it will cost a little more for the intake. The vortec heads have a larger pushrod hole so you have to use self alighning rocker arms or guide plates,so thats a little more money. The valve cover choices are also more limited so if you use rollers check in to it. In my opinion you can use a set of dart heads for around the same money you would have in the vortec set up. The dart heads have better valves and springs and you can use whatever cc chambers you need to maintain your compression ratio. jmo
