got hooked or power steering issue?

had the boat out yesterday and had alot of fun and a little worry
first the fun - 79.3 gps against a 3mph current and 15+mph wind, had more throttle but too early in the season to risk a malfunction. my friend had his daytona eliminator up to 96.7gps after almost going snout up and over. the snout up was not fun.
now the worry - I was cruising at about 45-50 when all of a sudden my boat hooked HARD left, I almost rolled it. I think I may have hit something but I didn't hear or feel a hit and after putting it on the trailer I found absolutely no marks or damage of any kind, as hard as the boat hooked I would expect to have damage if I hit something. I scanned the area where it happened and did not see any debris.
I have an IMCO power steering set-up, full hydraulic, never had an issue before. Is there any chance that the power steering may have malfunctioned and turned me hard left without moving the steering wheel?
or maybe the lake has gremlins and there screwing with us.
I'm going to take it easy until I hear that the steering system cannot cause this.
attached is a pic of my buddy's eliminator

That eliminator is sweet! As for the steering issue, I'm taking some guesses of maybe air in the system? Hit something soft? Worn parts in your gimble, tho I would think the external steering would not show the worn parts.

Have you tried to shake the outdrive by hand? This might show where there is a issue.

Yellow, the drive is as tight as the cleavage on lamon's sig pic
i have a reservoir for the steering fluid and the level there is fine,
that would not rule out air in the system but does make it unlikely.
I would have to turn my wheel a full 360 to get it to hook like it
did but the wheel did not move at all, except when I turned the
other way to straighten out while slowing down. no other incidents
prior to this and yesterday was not my first time out this year so
little chance of winteritis
