Gull lake or Gun lake Michigan

Does anyone boat on GULL lake or GUN lake michigan just north of kalamazoo? I am taking my boat up to my sister's house this weekend (6-23)and we plan on checking out one or both of these lakes. If anyone here will be there let me know we could maybe meet up, -shane

Both lakes are patrolled. Gun lake is nice, busy on weekends, has an island to hang out on and is boater friendly. County ramp is off Patterson rd, state park on the east side also has a ramp. West side of the lake is somewhat shallow for the big boats. You will see anything from 12 foot jon boats to jets to v-drives to 30 foot offshores. Have fun. (Have never boated on Gull Lake)

Thanks old navy, that's good info. My sis and her hubby moved to that area a year ago, they have a jet ski but have never been on those lakes and want me to bring the checkmate up so we can. I think I saw that "on the hammer" is from gun lake but haven't seen him on here in a while. -shane

Gull lake vs Gun: Gull is very deep as compared to Gun lake. Gull is the best lake for cruising and checking out the million dollar homes, speed limit is 45. Great sand bar by the island to hang out. Gun is the 'hot boat' lake, but be careful of your prop, that lake eats up more props than any other.

thanks JW, looks like im going to gun lake! actually we are going to try to go to both, one on saturday and one on sunday...weather permitting. I should be ok I have ran on coldwater lake and all the channels and they are very shallow, I have my engine jacked way up so I have never hit anything since I have owned the boat but I will still use caution if we go to gun lake. -shane

Wow what a weekend, those lakes are great, Gull is very clear you can see to the bottom and some real nice homes on it. Gun lake is awesome, wish i lived farther north, ran into a guy from the board but can't remeber his name, drove a convincor. There were quite a few checkmates out there sunday and I parked right next to a guy with a tri-mate for sale. Got to hang out and BS with some hot boats, v-drives, jet boats, tunnels and hydrostreams what a good time. I will probably try to make it back again later this summer. -shane
