Hello everyone, just bought a 77 trimate 3

This is my 3rd "old boat" with intentions of fixing/selling... but I think I may hold on to this bad boy for a while. Hard to find something with the checkmate name for the 700 bucks I paid for it with a running 200hp motor and a solid floor. It needs a big time interior clean, and I'll probably ditch those b2b seats and opt for captains chairs... then build a U-bench around the back end and recover the seats/upholstered rails along the bow seating area as well. Seems like it just needs a little TLC... the motor ran great, the top end was rebuilt 5 years ago, and it sounds like it just needs the carbs cleaned and a minor tune up to run perfect. It stuttered sounding like a misfire when I heard it run, so I might even get to skip the carb job and just replace plugs/wires. Anyway... gotta find a place to put the damn thing since I live in the downtown area of KC, but as soon as I do I'll be spending my nights after work there and hopefully get her cleaned up to use her for a few weeks before this seasons over. During winter time I'll probably end up wetsanding it and making it look real pretty, and next season I'll have to make that aweful decision of keep, or sell for profit. LOL. Can't wait to get started... here's a few pictures:

KC??? As in Kansas City? I'm in Topeka. Nobody around here has even heard of checkmates...lol. Just got my 78 Convincer in the lake a few weeks ago. I got mine off of ebay last August for about 750.00.

Yep, live just north of the downtown area around here. She'll be taken out on Smithville lake more often than not, but I'll probably make appearances out at Clinton and Perry as well.

So Glad to hear that there are more 'mate owners in the area, especially another trimate!. I've got a newly aquired '79 trimate, i live about 17 miles north of Smithville lake between smithville and st joseph and i frequent that lake often in the trimate!

Here is a late "Welcome to the board"

I bought my 1977 TriMate III just about a year ago. I replaced the floor in March, it seems to be solid otherwise.

How is yours running?
