HELP WITH MOTOR CHOICE

I have a 1995 pulsar OB with a stock 2006 225 optimax. I have a friend who has a rebuilt 250 EFI with a bob's cone, boyensen reeds, heads cut and computers flashed by Simon, and some exhaust work. I can get this motor at a very good price. I should be able to sell my motor to cover the cost. I want more speed out of mine. I was thinking about doing some work to mine, but I keep reading there is only 20-35 h.p. you can squeeze out of the opti. Do I want to sacrifice a reliable motor with something like this 250 efi? Any recommendations??

250

If the 250 was built right there should be no problems, the real question is you know what you already have is it worth the risk for potential problems. Not sure there will be that much gained from a 225-250.

I really don't think you will have any reliability problems out of the modified 250. And you know the work was done right, and its not like you are buying it off a stranger. I'd say it's a no brainer to go for the 250!! Really, the only thing you should lose is fuel economy, and seriously, who buys a boat for the fuel economy? Smiles per mile is what should be important!!
