guys,

How strong is the transom of a pulse 186, the boat is in good condition!
i am now running a yamaha 225 2 stroke but got offerd a yamaha 300 vmax.
i am running 10" setback but this is probably to much..

wath is the technical difference with for example an 21ft pulsare wich may have 300hp, this boat is even lighter than the pulse 186.

is there a difference in the design en strength of the transom? the weigtht of the yamaha is just 45kg more, so this is probably not a problam

regards Jaap

I added a extra pair of knees to my 186 Pulse when I restored it . I'm also running a 10" j/p.
In my opinion with that much setback, (which I think is ideal on the Pulse) I'd again add the extra knees in there if I did another. That's a lot of motor and would put a pretty good amount of stress on the transom with the extra torque and weight. EXSPECIALLY if it's the original transom.
If the transom is original I'd highly suggest not doing anything until you know it's dry and solid.

The 2100 transom is built stronger than the Pulse transom.
