I am going to put a jack plate on my 1988 170 Spetra It has a 150 98 XR6 I think a 6"set back what hole should I set the motor in and at what water pressure should I stop to jack it up at. Any idea of what type of preformance gains I should expect?

Bolt the motor in the middle hole, make sure the steering cable and such clear the jackplate. I found that the top hole of the motor puts everything to close the plate.
As for water pressure, 10-15 at WOT is about right. Mine ran a bit higher but i was at max hight on the plate.
When you install the plate take a measurement of the motor on the transom. How far below is the center of the bullet from the bottom of the V on the hull. This will give you a starting point when you install the plate.
I would start with the motor about 3" below the bottom.
Make sure you watch the pressure gauge.
I would exspect a 4-8mph gain.
