lexan or Plexiglass?

Hey guy's which material should I use to replace Curved broken glass windshield. One of the front glass panels broke into pieces and getting a replacement is not happening. The boat is a 1980 Entertainer and I didn't like the Height of the windshield anyway so I cut the frame down a bit so the Question is which material to use? 3/16 lexan or Plexiglass ? Thanks.

Lexan (polycarbonate) is shatterproof and you can drill hoes in it pretty easily for mounting, but it tends to scratch a little more easily than Plexiglass. Plexiglass (acrylic) will shatter with enough impact and can crack/break when drilling holes through it. If it were me, I would go with polycarbonate because I find it's easier to work with and takes a few years to get noticeably scratched as long as you're gentle while cleaning it. Whichever you go with, get the type that's UV stable or it will yellow over time.

I would say the polycarbonate is your best bet. Its a lot tougher and easier to work with. I have also had good luck getting small scratches out of it with some light rubbing compound and then a polish.

Thanks. I see the MR10 lexan on Ebay . I assume that is the one that has the uv protection. I have to make it bend just a little so I hear it will without heating it up. although I can heat it if needed. I can get the MR10 tinted in gray or bronze. I'm thinking the gray . The boat is blue and silver but without every seeing either I'm not sure. I figure the tinted with not show discoloration as fast.
