Liberty Mates - we have liftoff!

Welcome All to our Liberty Mates Chapter serving Metro NY, NJ and Eastern PA. of course anyone in other surrounding areas is also welcome (west CT comes to mind).

I guess I should assume the role of chief welcomer after proposing the idea in recent weeks.

First thing I want to do is thank Chris for supporting the creation of the Chapter and his help with the poll on names. Thank You kindly!

Next item is to request some info from the members:
- where do you prefer to use your Checkmate?

For me, it's Lake Hopatcong, Greenwood Lake and the Hudson which would be my regular haunts. As I trailer everytime I'm out, I'd definitely consider other locations a bit further in every direction, so tempt me with your favourites.
The reason for me wanting to set up this chapter was to get to know more of you and meet up from time to time to experience new waterways.

Depending on what locations are on offer, we should look to have an annual meet next year. Watch this space.

Ok, time I got off the iphone and hooked up the boat. I have a first 2012 date on Hopatcong this afternoon I don't want to miss!!

Enjoy your day, and let's hear about your favourite waterways - and of course Happy Mothers Day to your loved ones!!

Have fun!!

I live only a few hundred feet from Greenwood Lake and usually go out on there. Its local, the ramp is cheap, and we have a nice shady, sandy cove where we can beach the boat and let the kids play. We also go to Wallenpaupack once a year and I have been known to go to The Hudson a time or two (usually from the town park in Haverstraw). Candlewood Lake in CT is on my to-do list as well.

If anyone ever wants to head out on Greenwood Lake give me a shout and I'll be happy to show you around. We're out every weekend we can over the summer and into the early fall.

John
