Looking at a new mate!

I'm looking at a 1988 starflight with a 1998 merc 200 EFI with a hydraulic jack plate. The boat looks like it is in ver good condition I have only seen pictures and the motor apparently has low hours on it. He is asking $7,000. Just wondering what everyone thinks of the price. I currently have a 1989 spectra 171 with a 98 merc 150 on it would it be worth the upgrade?

The price totally depends on the condition, could be a good deal, or could be over priced, get some pics if you can.

looks like its in good shape.. i've got mine for sale as well but mines only a foot longer with a little more horse... so i don't know if mine is worth the upgrade... i'll email ya pics if you want.

shoot.....i could make ya a deal on mine:eyecrazy:

If it's in good shape and the engine runs properly that sounds like a good deal. If possible see if the seller will take you for a ride to check everything out.

Oshkosh huh, I've been there just about every summer for the past 20 years for the fly-in. Do you boat on Lake Winnebago?

Good luck with the purchase.

Groundloop Yeah I do pretty much all my boating on winnebago. Thats why I'm thinking of getting something bigger. A 17 footer on that lake is a little small. Where do you usually stay when you come to town. I live about 2 blocks from the airport termianl and can see all everything that goes on for that week.

I've always been in a tent right at the airport. Didn't get up there the past 2 years though, and we're not sure about this year yet. I really like that part of the country, but have always wondered how all the locals feel about being invaded for those few weeks every year.

A lot of people don't like it because of the traffic mainly. I really don't mind it at all. I rent my house out for the week for people to stay and I like to meet all the different people from around the world.
