Major Software Upgrades

Hi Gang,

You may have noticed we were down for a few hours today.

We undertook some major software upgrades, to (hopefully) keep everything running tickety boo.

The custom grey and red themes have been temporarily disabled until I can get them rebuilt and updated. I worked away at the stock white and blue theme and it's pretty well back to normal.

There are a few things still to be fixed up, so please bear with us for now.

I figured most of you wouldn't mind putting up with a few things out of order if it meant us getting back open and running quicker.

So that's what we did. :)

You'll notice there's a few new little features and tweaks with this upgrade.

Enjoy! :)

I've got the red and grey themes more or less updated. :)

Because the forum upgrades were fairly extensive...

You may find you you have to do log out, erase your forum cookie, and then log back in again.

If you find you are getting some oddball errors, I would try erasing the forum cookie as a older cookie might be the culprit. ;)

Remember if you give someone a Greenie, at least sign it so they know who sent it.
I haven't figured the thing out totally yet. I know we can edit the names of the levels. I just left the stock ones for now. I didnt' think you could see who voted for you. The way it is set up right now (I think) is you can give people points (positive or negative) once and then you have to wait until you've given 50 more members points before you can do the same person.

You also accumulate points for the number of posts you make and for the amount of time you've been a member of the community.

Thats right you have to share the love.

It doesn't show who sent the greenie so just sign after the comment like: Great thread. Coop or Nice picture. Chris or Nice Trimate. Gus

It doesn't show who sent the Greenie, that way you can be an annonomous sender.

Whats really cool is you can click on a link and it takes you to the thread that the post is in that they commented on. Its a really cool feedback system.

I'm thinking of updating my board to VBulletin soon.

Below your avatar is some info. There is a little green rectangle. If you look at my post I have more than one. Those are the greenies.

If you like someones post you can click on an icon in the lower left corner of the post. It will say add to this users reputation when you move your curser over it. They you can pick that you either approve or dissapprove of there post. And you have room for a comment.

Now to see what has been sent to you click on the UserCP, where you make changes to your profile and stuff. And there will be a list of the comments. I've sent you a greenie, so check it out and see if you can find it.

vBulletin is really kewl, but if you want to import your existing posts it can get pretty complicated. Starting a new board is fairly straight forward. The control panel is a bit complicated though. I believe vBulletin still have a test board, where you can mess around with the control panel. It used to be over on their site.
