Mercury 250 prop?

ns777

New member
Hi guys, i've got a pulsare 21 with a mercury 250 efi engine. The engine came with a LASER prop with a 21 pitch. Some people are recommending that i switch to a Mirage 21. What suggestions would you guys give me? Would it be a better PROP? Should i go for a Trophy instead? Any info would help

What kind of RPM are you turn with that 21p? The 21p is a little small. Trophy or Tempest plus would work great. I would start out with a 27p. Just my thoughts. Good luck

He may have a 1.5:1 or taller gearcase instead of what you have Pat, so a 21 pitch may actually be the correct prop size.

As for the question, try every prop you can get your hands on! I liked the Tempest Plus for my Pulsare, but mine had been 'worked' by someone and it ran real well for hole-shot.

Both 225 and 250 EFI have the same gears ratio 1.75. Go to Mercury Marine web site. Unless it a four stoke. Can I have my toes back.:D

Mirage and Laser are both good props, but not so good on a 2100 Pulsare. If top speed is your only concern, the Tempest Plus is a good choice(25") but the Trophy Plus will keep the boat on plane at a lower speed, handles better and is just as fast. If you are at a lower elevation, you can run a 27" or maybe a 28" in the Trophy Plus. You need to have the engine height set with the prop shaft about 3 1/4 to 3 1/2" below the pad with 12" of set back. boatman

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Extremly helpful. Since it's a new engine, i couldn't give it full throttle for some time, but i did this week and got up to 6000 RPM giving me 62 mph on the gps with a a full tank and four passengers. I do care alot about top speed but i also care about low speed accelaration so i wouldn't want to jeoparidize either. (ignore any sp mistakes ) :cheers

I HAVE A 21 PULSARE WITH A 225 EFI , 23 PITCH TEMPEST RUNNING AROUND 70.I FOUND THE TEMPEST TO BE THE BEST ALL AROUND, LOW END AND TOP.I ALSO RUN IT WITH A 25 PITCH MIRAGE AND GET MORE TOP END BUT THE HOLE SHOT SUCKS WITH PASSENGERS ON BOARD.THE TEMPEST WORKS BEST.

Top end is important but i do care alot about hole shots because i ski and wake board. But wooow 70? That's pretty awesome from a 225
