Metal flake over white base

I was wondering if anyone knows if metal flaking over a white base looks good or not and what color flake looks best? thanks.:thumb:

I vaguely remember reading a car magazine many years ago that said metal flake and white don't work well together. I think it said you just end up with kind of a silver or I guess whatever color the flake is. There are guys on here that have forgotten more than I'll ever know about painting, hopefully one of them will chime in. What about pearl white instead?

You are correct sir! I have done a lot of experimenting with flake in clear over solid and metallic paint jobs. You could put a little flake in the clear over the white, and what will happen is in the shade it will appear as plain white. When the sun hits it you will definitely see the flake, but depending on how much you use and the size of the flake, it will cast a silver hue. You may like the outcome but you need to know what your doing and should do some test panels first. You might want to try some gold flake in the clear over white. Same effect, but you will end up with a gold tint in the sun light. You don't need a whole lot of flake in the clear, but test panels are almost a must. :thumb:
