My Checkmates new home

Now that I'm pretty much settled down here in NC and my beloved Checkmate is at it's new marina home at lake Gaston, I thought I'd share a couple of pics of the facility --- maybe some of you local guys from around here like SCT and Droptop might wanna come to the lake sometime for get together.
The marina is called Morningstar marina and it's located at a place called "The Point at Eaton Ferry".
The lake is about 30 miles long whereas the Roanok river runs through the center.
It's one of the cleanest lakes in NC with UNBELIEVABLE fishing, especially fresh water stripper bass.
The marina has a restaurant / a tiki bar / outdoor activities like horseshoes and tennis / etc... --- also has outdoor barbeque food service and ice cream and slushie things --- they have all kinds of event activities going on all summer like car shows and motorcycle shows and live bands every weekend with really kool outdoor parties at night.
I don't have any pics of my boat there yet as I just delivered it yesterday but I will be taking plenty of pics in the upcoming summer season.
These pics are just some file photos I grabbed from the website

Oh ya, I'll be renting a fishing boat once in awhile {no fish guts on my Checkmate:shakehead:}

Damn, your striper is bigger than mine.
Mine was caught in the Roanoke River near Williamston, NC earlier this year!

I'd like to take credit for that big azz bass, but unfortunately that is not a pic of me, nor is it my fish.....
But I'll tell you what, --- I will be more than happy when/if I catch a bass like the one you got in your pic !!!
Come on over to the Point at Eaton Ferry sometime --- the beers are on me ;)

I am happy for you Kurt. It looks like my kind of place. I would have a hard time going to work with so many better things to do haha. Enjoy your new home !

Thank man, I'm thinking of maybe not going back to work for a month or two ---- I've been working steady for the last 42 years and I think it's time to relax for a bit ---- I know I'll be broke by the end of the summer but it'll be worth it :surf:

Hey Kurt, we will definitely make it down your way sometime this year. Where is your residence if your boat is two hours away?

I'm currently in New Bern for a couple of days and I love seeing this backwater. I really need to bring my boat down with me on one of my "work trips".

Hey Chris,
I'm living in Clayton, about 30 min south of Raleigh, -- I did find a shorter route to the lake, I can make it there in about an hour and a half --- however gotta make sure my gas tank is full because it's an hour and a half of ONLY farm lands, no gas stations, no food, no nuthin :sssh: -- but it's a beautiful ride along the old farm roads {mostly route 43}.
I am trying to work a deal on a piece of land I found for sale in Littleton, -- about 25 yards from the lake with a neighborhood boat ramp, if the deal goes through it'll make a real nice spot to build a vacation cottage.
Let me know when your in the lake Gaston area, the beers at the tiki hut are cold and on me :thumb:

I have a friend of a friend that has a home on Lake Gaston (I've partied with them a few times). If it's any help I can put you in contact with them for some of that insider knowledge of living there. It's there second home as they live in Raleigh area as well.
