My little Project

Was there an issue with the headers?

They cracked and I ended up hydro locking the motor. Stopped to change jets went to start the motor and it was locked up. I thought it was a starter issue turns out there was water in the cylinders. I pickled the motor started it back up had it running for about 45 seconds and then it started running rough shut it down, pull the plugs and the same cylinders were filled with water again. So I spent the next three house pickling the motor a second time.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. That is why I stuck with my long riser EMI manifolds versus headers. Hopefully the motor is ok!

Well it's looking like the headers might not be crack, so I either lifted both heads and the head gaskets are ****ed or the intercooler has a big leak. I'll know more tonight.

Ahh, you kids and your new fangled boosted stuff. Im clueless when it comes to that. Yeas, you are probably right about the head gaskets.

I'm still in shock that it would have lifted both heads at 4400 RPM and 6 pounds of boost. :)

well after about two hours on the lake, I noticed smoke/haze come out of the breather and I didn't like some of the noises I heard coming from the motor. So I pulled the boat out of the water and checked the rockers and tighten the header bolts changed the oil once again, which looked good and then started it on the hose. It started right up and but still didn't sounds right, so I pulled the plugs and this is what #5 looked like.

So I scope the motor and the top of the piston is beat up. I'm thinking I broke/bent a valve and it was banding around in the cylinder. From what I can tell the sidewalls look good but, I wont know more until I pull the heads once again. The motor is coming back out in a few weeks and it looks like I'm going to completely tear it down.

What is the most upsetting/disappointing part is I didn't even get to run the boat wide open. At 3/4 throttle and 4400 RPM i went 73.3 with a 30 pitch prop.
