New 35ZT Checkmate pics

WILDMAN

Well-known member
I just got pics of this new 35ZT. I'm posting these because I know Big Red is chompin at the bit to see them! It was ordered as shown and is sold. It has a pair of 496HO's and runs 70 on GPS. Monster stereo system with 3 amps and 20 speakers just in the cockpit. Here's some pics.

I love you too wildman but let me tell you that blue and yellow in the cabin looks real gay and the inside of that boat makes me want to puke.
Doug needs to get with the program and get up to date.

Sorry brother I tell it the way I see it

:bigthumb: Okay I was well intoxicated when I told you what I thought so I asked my wife (who was sober) what she thought about the boat.

This is what she said, "I think it looks old, tacky, outdated, and something that the Brady Bunch might own."

WHOOP THERE IT IS

:bigthumb: I tell it the way I see it. I had plenty to drink tonight so I thought I would have my honest sober wife tell me what she thought.

I really thought Doug Smith was going to give us something. I was prepared to back down and let the light shine on this new wannabe Checkmate.

SORRY I AM GOING TO SOBER UP BEFORE I POST WHAT I REALLY FEEL i AM VERY DISAPOINTED IN THE INTERIOR AND THE OUTDATED APPEALL. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO BE FIRED

well i love this model. less round than the other moulds. this one is more sharp.

not my colors, but that is personal. well ordered in some nice colors, it will be cool!!

the windshield part of the deck would i make black. to look like a different part. not a sort of deck wich is coming up. what i really like is the boat is that its having a coming down bow. not a straight from rear to bow. i don't know what the english word is.

what is the price range of this model?

it doesn't matter how many ugly colors you put on it,it looks like a baja! as for two 496 h.o. s and only 70 m.p.h. it runs like a baja! this is not a checkmate and it never will be a checkmate. they should modify the zt 33 and make a larger CHECKMATE !:brickwall:

big red... dont worry, your drunk word is probably accurate. most people speak from the heart after a beer or two. yeah, it looks like a baja. there are a lot of bajas in my area and judging from what I see every day baja got a good deal on blue and yellow gel (or stickers). I definately dont like the colors. I am very disappointed with the inside. the all gel inside looks too plain jane to me. and too similar to the baja MO of past years. no checkmate has ever looked that way. the whole power thing? I dont know, I can feel how fast my check is and when the water is good and I drive it like a nice guy it uses less fuel than my old baja with the four cylinder did. that tells me it is a very efficient (fast) hull. this thing is equipped with what I would think is serious horsepower. how fast do you guys think a similar sized fountain would be with equivilant power? in my opinion this thing had better be close because it seems to me checkmate is trying to be on the same playing field with this unit. at least there is probably no worry of chine walk with this whale.

Doug wants to build bigger boats I feel they need to step up the class a bit.

Below are the pics of a 35 foot Fountain Lightning if you stuck the same engine's and drives in both boats the Fountain according to my calculations would cost less.

So you decide which boat you would want to spend your money on.

my buddy has a 32' fontain lightning w/ twin 502 merc i/o's. the best he has seen is around 73-74mph. it is a VERY nice boat and handles the big water(3-5footers) awesome! but i would think any boat w/ twin big blocks would run 80plus. fountain would get my money before c-mate on this one if i had the money:irked: guess i don't have to worry about that any time soon:brickwall:

It takes big power to hit 80 in your average 35+ foot boat. If the new Checkmate does run 70 with 496's thats not bad. But thats with no gear that you would normally carry with you on a 35 foot boat.
