Outboard Motor Mounts

I am in need of motor mounts on my 97' Merc 200 EFI. I know this because I am missing a little rubber on the lower mounts from what I can see.

Any suggestions, pros, cons to rubber mounts again versus solid aluminum mounts ?

I run in the inner coastal waterway in NJ that can get a little rough at times.

I was thinking solid mounts would cause a lot more stress on the boat and cause motor vibrations. I had a little vibration last year when I trimmed out and jack plated up a little. My assumption is that was from the motor mounts being on the way out.

For the most part, I had solid mounts. There is a bit of vibration at low speeds, but I kind of like that you know the motor is there.

As for the Transom and wear and tear, if you are running that hard motor mounts won't matter IMO.

Motor mounts

Bob's mounts are the best. You can do SOLID Lowers and leave the upper ones alone. I got lazy and tried that on my stratos 201 ski with a Merc 200. Un-believable how just the lowers stiffened it up enough to lose the chine walk at top end. I've done all four before, but uppers require pulling the powerhead to do. Tip on uppers, get new bolts and nuts from Merc along with the base gasket, Then you can just grind or cut the old ones with a dremel tool. Also easier to put the new mounts in with the bolts and nut reversed, i.e. You do not have to disassemble the tilt/steering tube.
