HI I AM NEW TO THE BOARD AND RECENTLY PURCHASED A 1984 CHECKMATE ENFORCER AFTER A LONG SEARCH OF FINDING AN OLDER BOAT IN GOOD SHAPE.MY QUESTION IS ON MY TOP SPEED.THE MOTOR IS A 260 MERCRUISER THAT I BELIEVE IS NOT THE ORIGINAL MOTOR.IT HAS A ALPHA 1 OUTDRIVE THAT I BELIEVE IS ORIGINAL NOT SURE OF GEAR RATIO.THE PROP IS A SPINELI BROTHERS STAINLESS BUT IT DOES NOT GIVE THE PITCH ON THE OUTSIDE ANYWHERE JUST SOME PART #S POSSABLEY.I HAVE NOT REMOVED THE PROP YET TO SEE IF ITS WRITEN ON THE INSIDE OF THE SHAFT HOUSING.I AM GETTING 49 MPH ON GPS AND 53 MPH ON SPEEDOMETER DOES ANYONE THINK I HAVE THIS PROPED CORRECT OR CAN POSSABLEY GET MORE MPH WITH A PROP CHANGE.IT DOES HAVE TRIMTABS AND AT TOP END I AM RUNNING 43-4400 RPM
TRIMED ALL THE WAY UP.ANYFEEDBACK WILL BE APPRECIATED

Are you having to use alot of trim. If so it sounds like you could use more of a bow liftig prop. I am an outboard guy so I can't help much. I am sure there will be someone around that can help.

Thats a nice prop but it doesn't sound like its right for your boat.Your RPM's should be around 4800 wide open. If you could get your hands on a 21 Mirage that would be a good starting point.

I FINALY TOOK MY PROP OFF AND FOUND THE PITCH # WHERE THE LOCK TAB FOR THE PROP NUT IS .IT'S A 21 PITCH PROP ON THERE ALREADY.ANY OTHER SUGGEGSTIONS.

Got any friends with a 19 Laser II or Mirage that you could try? That would bring the RPM's up and make it more responsive.Whats the diameter of your Spinelli? Is that throttle cable opening the carb all the way?

Hey you never know.

Drive should be a 1:50 ratio,Check for stamping on the upper right section of the outdrive.

THE DIAMETER IS 14.5 I DO HAVE A FRIEND WITH A SCARAB AND HE HAS A 17,19,AND 21 STAINLESS PROPS DON'T KNOW THE MANUFACTURER I'LL TRY TO DO SOMETHING OVER THE WEEKEND WITH THEM.I WILL HAVE TO CHECK TO SEE IF CARB IS OPENING ALL THE WAY.DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A 24'MATE WITH A SMALLBLOCK IF SO WHAT ARE YOU RUNNING FOR MPH,RPM,AND PROP I SEE A LOT OF NEWER MODELS THAT SEEM TO RUN AT LEAST 60 . DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MINE CAME WITH FOR STOCK PITCH AND DIAMETER AND WHAT MPH CHECKMATE CLAIMED THE BOAT RAN.

2003COBRA,

You can call Mike at checkmate, I do not have the number handy, but he can give you the best recommended prop for your set up, and possibly, if the factory propped it, he can tell you what it came with. Have you hull i.d. ready for Mike also. Ask for Mike Combs. I have a ZT 240 with a 377 c.i. small block, 320 h.p. and have seen 66mph with a 25p mirage and only about 30 gallons of fuel on board.

2003 ZT 240 6.2litre/Bravo 320 H.P. 24p Bravo 1

I TALKED WITH MIKE COMBS AT CHECKMATE AND HE SUGGESTED A 19P MIRAGE OR GET MY 21P SPINELLI REWORKED TO A 20P AS HE HAD A 20P LISTED IN HIS FILES AS WHAT I NEED FOR MY MOTOR OUTDRIVE COMBO.I AM TRYING MY FRIENDS 19P MIRAGE TOMORROW.I ALSO WANT TO REWORK MY PROP DOES ANYONE HAVE A CONTACT PHONE # OR E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR SPINELLI PROPS

Let me know how the 19P mirage works. I have an 86 Ambassador with a rebuilt 350 and with my 21P Quicksilver (model? Don't know, I'll get the #s) prop I'm running 49 on the GPS and 53 on the speedo also at 4100RPM. I'm hunting for a 19P Mirage on Ebay, and I'd love to hear how it works for you.

I wonder if the 21P will be okay when I switch to the thru-transom exhaust...

Let me know how it goes for you.
-Greg
