Prop Slip need suggestions

I mentioned yesterday the mota had serious prop slip here is my numbers using Mercurys prop calculator:

24P raker
1.87 gears
6000 rpms
65 GPS
prop slip 11%

Evinrude 250HP
24" setback (gil Bracket)

So do I need to have the raker prop worked or try a different prop?

That's pretty much the same slip I have with a 23 Tempest Plus. You have lot more setback than I, but I use lots of positive trim which increases the slip.

At lower speeds, trim the slip is much less.

Don't know if this helps, I just don't think these hulls are going to be much lower than 10 percent.

Thanks GW!! I was wondering that as well. I'm going to try my brothers worked 24P raker this weekend, also have a 26P raker and a 25P renegade as well. Maybe Wildman will offer his assistance. Anybody else got any ideas?

11% slip is not that bad.

You might want to try different props for other reasons, like load carrying, acceleration, etc, but I wouldn't change because of 11% slip.

With all the different forums that I have belonged to, it is expected, to see a 10%+ slip rate on your prop. To get less that 10% would be difficult to say the least.

I forgot to mention at top end the boat wanted to porpoise, so I'm thinking I need more bow lift or a prop to hold the bow. That was another reason wanting to try my brothers worked 24P raker, I think he had it cupped more.

Yeah I agree that 10% is gonna be hard to do on a boat without a true pad and that much set back. I think your prop slip #'s are about right.

I think those a good slip numbers. The bigger the boat, the higher the slip. You got too used to that 16 footer! If you every have a chance to try a Renegade go for it. They are a great prop and will make that hull behave much better.

11% slip is what my Convincor ran with the stock motor.....at 66 mph gps with a 24p Bravo I prop. That is a lot of boat to push with a single screw.....that is not too shabby.....but it never hurts to experiment!

I've got a 25P Renegade, just need to get the thrust washer for it.

Hey Robbie!
Mind if I tag along and try some of those props you got there? Im just trying to learn what prop my boat is gonna respond to, IM hoping to get my tach resolved tonight, found a bad rectifier, just picked one up, so my project tonight is putting it in....planning to be on the water tomorrow and sunday, but not sure as to what water, intercoastal, lake, etc...

You sure can. I'll be in the upper lake tomorrow with family, how about next weekend?
