Pulse vs Pulsare

I'd like to know the difference between the Pulse210 BR and the Pulsare 2100 BR. I have seen the Pulsare but not the Pulse. I believe the pulse has a deeper vee becaue of the higher degree of deadrise.

The things I am most interested in For the Pulse 210 are:
1)Is the rear hull flat like the Pulsare so that the wake is good for skiing on?
2)From pictures it appears that the Pulse 210 has higher gunnels tahtn the Pulsare 2100. What is the gunnel height on both?
Thanks 55

Thanks for the welcome. I do enjoy this site but I am at work and sneaking back and forth. I'm really excited about Checkmate boats. I have been looking for along time at various boats and I finally found Checkmate. Now I am in the midst of ordering one so it is fun to learn more about these water missles.

Your observations are correct, the Pulse 21' boat is deeper and heavier than the Pulsare. It's basically just a bigger version of the Pulse 170/171 and the 186/185. The Pulsare 2100 is a newer design by a few years, and is 'slimmed down' compared to the Pulse 210. The rear of the Pulsare has no lip on the splashwell, and is designed to have a jack plate mounted on it. The Pulse 210 has a 'standard' transom design with a lipped splashwell, and if it's like my old Pulse 171 there's a note from the factory voiding the hull warranty if a jack plate is mounted.
The Pulse has standard flat lifting strakes, the Pulsare has turned-down lifting strakes that form very small tunnels. For a detailed look at a Pulsare rear end, you can check out my 'Checkmate Factory Tour' article on www.screamandfly.com I put a great shot of the hind end of a red Pulsare on there.
As far as new sales go, the Pulsare is one of Checkmate's best selling models. The Pulse 210/211 doesn't sell nearly as well. Maybe Kip can give us some sales comparison numbers?

The Pulse is a nice large family ski boat, the Pulsare is a nice large faster family ski boat. I'd take a Pulse on big water, a Pulsare on smaller lakes for beating up on bass boats...

The info you have provided is great. I received some info from Kip as well.

I'm going with the Pulse 210 BR. The gunnels(sp?) are 6-8 inches higher making the boat about 300lbs heavier.

I wish I could see it before I order but I have seen the Pulsare which I was impressed with.

I'm still deciding on colors.

I can tell you, my little Pulse absolutely rips through rough water. I often go flying by guys who are idleing along in much bigger boats because it's too rough for them to plane out, without dropping fillings. If you think you can turn heads doing 60 flying down the lake...try ripping by them at 50 through big whitecaps and watch their faces.

Even better!

55, If it were up to me, I'd get either a red or yellow hull, with black with the red, and blue with the yellow. Can you get the Checkered Patteren with that boat? I'd get that one make it look my own. Also, fool around of the Graphic Stylizer on the Checkmate Powerboats webiste until you find what you like...

Checkmates may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they are the nicest looking!

Hey JW
Loved your tour of the Checkmate plant on screamandfly. Why doesn't Checkmate use metal flake anymore? A 16' Pulsare with full flake would be an instant classic.

It doesn't seem so practical today, but I have to agree with you, it would be a classic and a rare boat at the same time...

Thanks Mark! As far as metal flake goes, you can still get it. The company follows market demand, and right now it's just the bass crowd that still likes the flake. I love the flake too, but those darn flakes cause the gell to fade even faster than no flake..........

Ok... I still like the metalflake boats, but I like the newer graphics better...

So I'm curious what you all think an early Pulsare (1994, 95, 96) would go for compared to a Pulse? Both 21' and bow riders?

Asking bc I found a few Pulse's for sale that I like between 6-7k, but if it makes sense to wait until the cold sets in maybe I can find a Pulsare for the same, or close. If it's 2x the cost I'll go with the Pulse and save the $...

Thx
