Ringing a Efi 250 in place of my Efi 200

I have a 2001 Pulsare with a 2001 EFI 200 Merc on it now.

I got my hands on an EFI 250 Merc. Same vintage. Niether one is an optimax Just standard Merc EFI.

I have never rigged a motor before. Will everything thing be a direct swap / plug and play so to say as far as the harness, controls, steering etc?

Also do you think the performance gains is worth the trouble?

Thanks in advance.

I think it will be plug and play. And, yes, totally worth it. You'll consume more fuel though, but who cares, you don't checkmates for mileage, right?

Does Anyone know the Approx Weight Difference from the 2.5 to the 3.0?

I have dual Batteries in the Back now. would I benifit from Moving the Batteries into the bow Compartment?

Also whats a Good All Around Prop for that 250? I am not looking for highest top speed, just best performance. I do tube and ski off the back, so maybe a Trophy 25 or 26?

Thanks for the Input guys really appreciate it!

Also in the middle of getting custom Marine Mat Floor mats for the whole boat (looks like Seadek) Just much easier to deal with from what I have heard. I will get some pictures up after its all installed. I Expect it should look awesome.

I wouldn't do anything drastic like move the batteries until you actually drive it and see how it feels. I really don't think you'll have to do anything as those boats came with 3.0L rigged a lot of the time. You are gonna love the torque gains!!!

I agree with Corey...rig it and drive it. Don't put the batteries in the front as you'll scrub speed.

Can someone recomend a Good All Around Prop For this Setup?

I have a 200 EFI with a Trophy 23P now and I do Like the setup.

I was thinking with the 250 EFI I would be good with a Trophy 25P?

Will this get me more top end without Sacrificing off the Line becuase of the Added Torque/ HP?

I still want to be able to pull the Kiddies on Tubs and What not.

Would 26P be too much?

I'd say to try your 23 to get a baseline, if you are hitting the rev limiter all the time then move up in pitch. Many dealers by me have loaner props, you pay for it, and if you wreck it you buy it. If you don't like it you bring it back and try again.

If that 200 gonna be for sale ? I’m looking to buy one , blew mine up this summer ... pm’d you
