Checkmates may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they are the nicest looking!

What we need to do is organize an Ontario Checkmate event. Maybe if someone from Pride ever reads this board someday, they will contact me and ya just never know.

Just kiddin' of course.

It would be cool to see a bunch of Canadians and Americans get together up here. Now whether it becomes reality or not, is another question all together.

It could be like all the offspring come home to the factory to visit the mother ship or something.

I liked Chris' idea in Ontario here. I can't go to all these other places because of the distance. Something closer would be great!

I run my boat on the Intercoastal Waterway around Wrightsville Beach. Does anyone else run in the Carolina's?

I run on the Hudson River by Albany N.Y.. With no speed limit its like having a couple hundred mile long drag strip! There is still a lot of state land so you can pull up on the beach and just hang out. If you want to "CHECK" out some Lakes try Lake George or the Great Sacandaga!

Another Vote for Ontario. I also think our southern neighbors should be welcome although after our politicians get finished insulting americans few would show up.

It is pretty shallow by my place and a very small channal for boats to go by. Not to many far straight aways but if someone can get a 95 MPH run from it, it be good for Checkmate. Hows the weed situation by you Chris? Knowing ours in the spring, its going to be gross because right ascross the over side, this huge place is all weeds, I mean all... ICK

Not too many weeds on our lake Z. You get the odd pocket here and there, the normal amount you find on most lakes.

When I bought my boat at Pirate Cove, we took it for a test drive, and the weeds were unbelievable on that river. I've never seen anything like it. When pulled the boat out of the river, the boat and trailer were completely covered in weeds.

I run on Maple Lake in the Minden/Haliburton, Ontario area. Have been going there for 30+ years. It's land locked and the only boat launch on the lake is a piece of crap so I haven't explored as much as I would like to. The lake is just big enough for a good top speed run, but I love it there.

I hear ya Chris. Especially down by Pirate Cove there. When we go for long tube rides down there, its almost impossible to swerve back and fourth because it grosses the kids out and with a 1400 prop on the back, you don't want to be screwing around. It sucks with all the weeds, but I love the place...

Chris, I agree with you lake Z can be icky at times, but it is good most of the time. When the Rideau River is not busy (rare) it is great for top speed runs.

Persuader 183, how close is your lake to Lake Kushog? I hope I spelled it right. My great aunt has a cottage out in that area. I have not been there in a long time but remember it being beautiful. I think her cottage was near the tornado site from maybe 15 or so years ago.

Feel lucky for just a weed problem, here on the Mississippi, we have commercial barge traffic, submerged wing and lateral dams, moving sand bars, huge logs, dead bodies. It can take away some of the fun of boating when I bacame used to Lake Michigan and Lake Washington out in Seattle. We have had times when it looks like we are running a slalom course from trying to avoid debris. An almost constant 4 mile per hour current makes it a bitch for docking and rafting too. We do have some great beaches though and the water gets really warm. It was up at 85 degrees for over a month last summer. I do not think I could be confined to a small lake again. I kept a boat on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin for two years and went nuts. It is only 8 miles long and maybe a mile wide at the widest point, it got old real fast, plus they have very low speed limits that are strictly enforced. 35 on the weekend days and 45 during the weekdays and 15 after dusk. That sucks. I racked up many, many tickets over two summers. I never learned.
