Anyone buy their Checkmate from Saratoga Boat Works in New York?? If so, what type of service did you get?? Any problems and if so how were they resolved

No more Checkmates, I was just curious(without going into details just yet) on how other people might have been treated on Checkmates or any other boat purchased from Saratoga Boat Works.

I called them last year on a boat. Set up a time to do a test drive and the sales person told me that he would call me back to confirm. Never heard back. Figure that they must sell so many boats, didn't have time for someone outside of the area. (Syracuse, NY).

i live around the corner and have only met one person that bought from them . they're not setting the world on fire with sales or service. if you wanted a checkmate til a couple years ago you went to the boathouse on oneida lake or performance marine in ravena before that . i know they won't compete (pricewise) with congel on oneida with baja . if i was going to buy a new checkmate i would use this board and at least try to do business with the one or two dealers that contribute . i would do my homework and find out what dealer knows the product as well as mike combs and avoid the dealer that sells the "boat de jour"

Hi Robin,

Finally got a chance this weekend to put several hours on the ZT 280. The first week I was at my camp on Lake Champlain I found out there was a recall on the boat for a fuel leak. Since I'm no engine guy it took some time to check out what they were talking about on the recall and that left little time for boating. I could write a book on Saratoga Boat Works but I do not have the time. I will in the end get everything I should since it is part of the contract(never go with anything verbal)but it has been torture getting there. Bottom line, I received a great deal on the boat that included an extended 5 year Mercruiser warranty on the 496 Mag HO.

How do you like your new boat so far? Most boats
have a few minor problems that need to be fixed.
I will be on the lake this weekend if the weather is nice.So far it's rained on my days off. Robin

They are actually working on my boat this week/weekend. I'm heading up to the lake on June 25th and should be there for over a week. Where on the lake to you hang out?? The boat handles great and a very comfortable ride even when the lake kicks up.

We hang out at point au roche beach alot. I really like the way the boat rides and handles too. What have you seen for top end so far.Hope
this weekend doesn't rain. ROBIN

I had an older GPS( Magellan) and at slightly less than 5000RPM the GPS was reading 55mph. I had a Seadoo Speedster(Merc 240EFI) that hit 56mph(Garmin StreetPilot) so I knew there was something wrong with the GPS. Not to say the speedo in my 03 4Runner is perfect but when the speedo read 67-68 the GPS was reading 54-55. I'm going to pickup a new GPS this week and see where I'm really at.

I live in CT but have a cottage in Willsboro Bay. I might make it up to the Plattsbugh area later this year. Boat runs great!!! A new Magellan Meridian Color GPS recorded 66mph and I probably could push 68. Saratoga Boat Works is a joke. They had the boat again to do the recalls and fix a few minor problems. Nothing was done. Looks like I have to take them to court for the items that are part of the original contact. The reason they gave for not taking care of the items is "we lost to much money on the boat already".
