Senator VS Scarab 22 VS Baja 223 Bandit

Don't be too impressed, I just have lots of down time at work to surf the web. :D Actually, when I bought my Mate it was either the boat I bought, a really clean late 80's small block Scarab 1 (21ft), or a mid 80's big block clone of a 24ft Superboat so I have a bit of interest in all of them.

I wouldnt pull anything close to the size of a Senator with an Escape. I pulled my Senator with a Trailblazer and it was a struggle.

^ ok .... The Escape is a V6 3.0 is 240hp 230ft/lbs and 3500# it really as no issue pulling 3500 pound Trailer and Boat and brakes just fine ...

Anyways thanks for the advice right now I am really mixed up about what I should be getting ! The baja's are almost out ... I still really like the Scarab 22 .... And I started hunting for a Velocity or Superboat , but those are a little less desirable because of the lack of sunpad and swim platforms....

Ive owned a starflite and now own a velocity 22.I work on the water everday. There is no boat that you can pull witb you escape that will be comfortable in true 5ftrs.I understand power isnt the problem, but what happens when a child darts out in front of you.Ive towed with almost everything.I now have a 1 ton dually crewcab 4wd cummins that we haul the camper and boat with.I even notice it when trying to stop.A good rul is of thumb for towing is to cut the weight in half of what it says, that will giv.e you your real world numbers. That being said our 98 velocity gsndles rough water great, but Im not sure id be out running for anything besides home in 5ftrs.

I agree that I will not be able to haul anything over 3500lbs with the truck without adding risk ! I do not want to go there at all either...

About the boat itself I do not have any experience in 20 footers beside my last baja...and the Senator. Every other boats ride before that have been in with friends boat Baja 30 , Top Gun 38 fresh and Miami Ocean 10' waves , 420 Baja ... I know those big things did not really mind 3-4' wave but even in 5 foot they get moved around ... From what I gather alot of people are very generous when describing the height of waves I see guys talking about running 21 Eliminator Tunnels in 2-3' chops , in my part of the world both of my friend with those hulls will not even bring it to the launch when I say 2' ( could be because of the metric system ) but a 2 Foot Wave here means 24" from the base to the tip and that is already pretty big ! for a boat that the side is about that 24'' ...

I know that nothing in the 20 to 26 -28 foot boat will run all out in a 5' wave but I wanted to start this thread basically to rate between a few different 20 ish foot boat wich one would deal and survive it best.

Again I appreciate everyone input I just don't want to start throwing 28 and 30 foot boats into the mix just because they can run a 5'...
