The Ideal Starflite Prop!

They'll fit. You have to drill the holes. this one has free shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCURY-ME...27ea5:g:TMEAAOSwxNBcbcgz&shqty=1&isGTR=1#shId
Best money you will spend. Never worry about losing water pressure.

I currently have 8 holes. I was under the assumption i would utilize two of those holes to mount the plates
Such that one plate has threads and the other plate through hole for the bolt. Basically sandwiching the lower unit
95 xri 200hp

Will pm a pic.

You could through bolt that. Just make sure you have 3/16" open on front and mostly closed on back. I would probably make my own for that application.

Thanks Mark for all your insight

Few things, apparently my prop is a 19” quicksilva 2.

Besides that i went ahead and did my LU gear oil to find water in there.

Priorities first, can you recommend a parts place to get all seals needed and a water pump? Any other knowledge you have as to what to look for or change as i am in there?
LU is currently pulled off. Sourcing a repair place or insight on doing it myself

I'm going to bring this to the top and announce that Mark is absolutely 100% right about the powertech tro4. I searched and searched for an idea on the right prop and after re reading this thread lucked out and was able to snatch one from jross. Yesterday was the first time I've had the boat out since I bought it and I was beyond amazed at the difference. The holeshot was better than my hi five, it lifted the hull out of the water like I've never felt since I bought the boat and man did it have the speed. I was able to raise up my jack plate without losing water pressure or losing the carry of the hull. Anyone with this hull needs to try this prop. THANK YOU MARK!!!!!!!!!! And thanks to jross for a great prop!

What motor were you running with the tr04? Also what pitch?

Im eyeing a 24p tr04. Have a 200 xri 1995

Scam site for sure.

Mark. So i picked up a new 23’ TR04 for my rig. Iv been doin some testimg and heres what i was able to come up with

My original prop was a
19’ quicksilver II
Rpm 6200
Mph 58

TR04 23’
Rpm 5500
Mph 62

10” setback 1995 xri 200 No LWPU

Based on these numbers what do you think?
My water pressure was 20-28 lbs

As i ran the tr04 and slowly jacked it up i was able to sqeeze out a few more rpm to 5600 but also lowered water pressure to about 20+- 2psi

At that height i am concerned the water pressure is more air then water. Is this correct?
I have no water temp sensor hooked up, have the gauge installed just need to wire it. Again the boat is still new to me. Does this motor have a sensor in it already? The boat was rigged for a 2018 225 pro max so some gaiges were jot rewired

Should i pitch down one or?

Water pressure is all that matters. If you have good WP you will always have good temps. 15 PSI is the minimum according to Merc.
Yes, you have started to get get air mixed with water and hence your pressure is dropping a little. Some guys plug the top holes, but IMHO that is the wrong way the go. I would add the water scoops and your WP will jump right back to 30PSI. Then you can keep raising the motor and you will keep going faster. Your sweet spot with that prop will be somewhere 1 and 3 inches propshaft below lowest part of your bottom V pad. Mine always ran at 30PSI with the scoops. They are terrific.
The 23P sounds like a good fit for you, and you have more mph to go. You should also be noticing how well it corners and that the prop will just not let go and ventilate.

So what your sayin contradicts alittle of how i understood it. As the prop raises, and water pressure stays the same or drops alittle, your telling me that all that water pressure is all water and not air and water mixed together?

As i understood it, the higher you go without a LWPU the water pressure gets combined with air. Resulting in a phony waterpressure. Hense overheating the motor?
Which ties into water temp sensor. This sensor your saying is not so important?

So i can run this prop as high as i want as long as the water prssure is in safe psi range ?

So far the prop is excellent. My rpms range is right there. I can also pitch down one which would in my eyes bring my rpms to the 5800-5900 range resulting in a better exceeration along with maximizes my motors potential

Thanks for the feedback. .

In my similar experience_ TRo4. Call Powertech. very helpful

Sim
Do you mind sharing your experience ?

One thing i think about is when i run with more then two people in the boat. Really curious how the boat will handle when i have a full load of four. Currently i have no bench seat just two Big joe bean bags strapped across Once i add the weight of a bench seat and two people i have a feeling the 23’ wont entertain my ideal rpm range.

Any experience of how much weight effect in prop pitch? Like for every 100lbs pitch down? Similar to the rpm, every 1” of pitch equals 400rpm

No that is not what I am saying. The higher you go the more your water pressure WILL drop because it is mixing with air. Air will not create a phony water pressure, it will get lower. And yes if it drops your temp will go up.

If you are not getting a lwpu then yes you could drop pitch (You will get 150 -200 rpm at most per pitch. you could put on the scoops and keep raising the motor. TRO4 likes to run high. More rpm, more mph and better holeshot.

So mark if i go down one pitch it would ultimately bring my rpms in ideal max range along with pickin up holeshot and top speed, along with the ease if more then two people are on the boat, would you agree?

I guess my motor is alittle tired. My compression is all good, but then again it is close to 25 yrs old
Also the tro4 being pitched “heavy” a 22” tro4 acts like a 23 trophy. So i dont think its that bad.

I understand now the water pressure scenario. The scoops im lookin to make. But ultimately wont change my rpms that much. I would say i was pretty dam high while keepin my water pressure above 20 psi

My new issue is my oil injection buzzer. Im not gettin any ignition test beep so im now looking into that. Never got the test beep since i had the boat.

Do you have any advice on this? Did you keep your xri injection or delete and go premix? Any insight in if its worth the delete and go premix? New topic i know, but im itchin to get on water.
Lot of components in the oil injection system makes it hard to diagnose
Been researching diagrams but am having a hard time findin where to start since im not even sure the buzzer is present.

Happy 4th!

You could try asking that question on scream'n'fly where lots of guys still run that motor. The oil injection is mechanical not electronic so I am not sure what buzzer you are talking about. There is a little gear pump that feeds the oil and is increased with throttle advance. Mine worked fine so I never touched it.

To be honest I am not a Merc fanboy and do not love their EFI or DFI motors. Too many electrical component failures. You are always chasing gremlins. As soon as I got mine running perfectly, I sold it. The reason they are popular is they are light weight and will almost always outrun the others... when they are running! ;)

Best motors ever made IMHO are Yamaha carbed 2-strokes. Bullet-proof motors where nothing ever fails. Super simple. Their 4 strokes are very well built as well.

Hope you get the old girl running and have some fun.
