The Sportfire

yes for sure no doubt about it. almost everything imagineable has been done to that motor. The compression alone is 150 across. The gears are not stock. I know I wont hit 80 with the 28 unless I get the rpms up but I was thinking a 24 or 26 would actually be better for top end because max hp is around 7 K rpm.
when I get some more cash Ill get a GPS, I was saving up for something real nice but I might as well get the $90 garmin. my motor is definitely pushing 200+ and I know for sure that I am running in the 70's with the 28.
I want to raise the motor up some more because I know it is too deep. That is part of why my rpms are so low

Ill be trying the 26 on tuesday if the weather is nice. Ill try and get some video, those pics are nice but dont show how aired out it can get.

New Prop Update

I just traded my 28 chopper for a 26 hoss triton.
The funny thing is the 28 had much better holeshot. The 26 doesnt want to catch at all. I tried a few diffrent posistions with the JP and trim, but It is not what I expected. top end seems a bit slower too.
The 26 spins over 6500 but feels slower than my 28 did at 5600rpm. I really should have bought a handheld GPS to compare.
Overall the 26 is much better. I can cruise at a higher speed at a lower RPM, there is less slip at low RPMs. I can go from 2500rpm to 6500 in a two seconds and man can you feel the diffrence there. its like night and day.
I still have a 26 Mazco at the shop I need to try. I am not doing any more prop testing untill I get a GPS

Not yet.
What is your 2.4? a 200, 245??
you should post some more specs/pics here. we need to represent the sportfire. Im looking for a 2.4 Bridgeport for my boat, or maybe a promax...
Check out Tazfinz boat, its the same boat but blue.
BTW whats a rapid jack? a jackplate? I'm running the motor pretty high as is, I think going up one more hole would be ideal though.

I saw that boat on ebay a while back. Looks like a good hot rod project. Definitely a good price.
I personally would go with a 383, make sure you have a good mechanic go through it Keep us posted on your progress.

E-Bay Boat

Nice project boat! I was also looking at that one but I was wanting a jet. Good luck with it and remember to post pics as you work on it.

Nice boat

Great lookin boat Boston, I think if you can lift the motor up as high as two inches or so below the pad , with a 28pitch if you can turn six grand you'll get 80 out of it.

thanks all

To be honest I think Ive already hit 80mph at some point. It seems to run alot faster in the ocean especially when its calm and I can ride the swells, and i now know that my tach was broken so my rmps were off.
Check out my videos and you can hear it rev really high with the 28. the rpms just keep comming until the wind makes me chine walk:surf:

Boston, that is one hot boat. I've been drooling over it since I stumbled across this forum and must have played the video clips a hundred times. If you still haven't sold it in a few month's let me know. I'd gladly pay the money you want for it.

Thanks Mate. I have had alot of intrest in it since I posted it for sale. a time capsule like this is pretty rare. It definitely is the coolest boat Ive owned for sure. I would be very sad to see it go, but times change.:surf:
