Two Merc 1500's(15" mid's)

I bought these two motors almost two years ago with a plan to mount them on my old Checkmate(it came with twins in 1969). I decided to track down 15" mid sections which thanks to the internet I was able to do. I had the mid's professionally stripped and repainted and then installed the proper short shafts. The powerheads and lowers are in great shape for the age and according to the previous owner run great(I have never had them hooked up to run). One of the motors was in storage for over 10 years, the other was tuned up before I bought it I am going to have leakdowns done this week and will post the numbers, in the meantime if you have any questions let me know. One of the motors has power trim(with pump and hoses-works great) the other doesn't. Both complete with lower units and controls.
Asking $3000 for the power trim motor and $2500 for the other OBO(would consider trade for single Merc 225 and up).
thanks

Post them over on S/F if you have not done so already.

Why have you decided to go another route? That thing would be killer in the water with twins.

Truth is I think the transom (and the boat) needs to be redone before it can handle two motors. I have stress cracks in the splash well and I have these visions of the transom busting off at 80mph! The other problem is I want my wife to be able to drive this thing and with no counter rotation(and no hope of finding one) it would be hard to handle. All that being said I still want to keep them!! is that wrong!!:yell:

Leakdown numbers:
Power trim motor is less than 4percent
Non power trim motor is less than 6 percent

Do you have any info on the original setups? I bought my 191 from checkmate in 70 as a bare hull and installed an inboard but now I am dreaming about the same project. I think it may be a handfull with twins as you suggest. Would like to talk with you about your motors.
