Under 23 and well over 100 "mph"

Well-known member
I would like to share a very kool little "thread" story about not only obtaining but well surpassing the crown jewel of the gps / speedo reading of 100mph in a Checkmate ---- and doing it 23 years ago in a 22ftr.

First, try and picture yourself in a 25 foot badass blown Checkmate crusin around that elusive 100mph mark on your speedo --- and then all of a sudden you glance over to your portside and ..........

Never found out who he was but had to be going 120 or better. I would never have believed it I it didn't happen to me first hand. Always wanted to know WTF he was running for a set up!! never seen him again.

I think I solved your 25yr old mystery. This was probably the boat, crazy fast!

Checkmate vision 22' ran 131.62 mph! Not bad for 1990 and the fastest single engine v hull I've heard about.

Wow! Thats pretty damn fast for a 22' boat. I would have to install a porta potty to puke in then clean out the pants after that ride.

I guess I was lucky in one respect to have seen that thing run!! Flat out amazing for the Time!!! As someone said on that forum link " Can you imagine what he would be running if he was doing it today"

That last comment ---"imagine what he would be running today"

I think it's pretty obvious he {and we now know "he" is my friend Sammie} would be easily running past that crown jewel of the speedo read -- probably in a 21 LD and sneaking up and passing those blown / injected / badass Convincors :bigthumb:
