Wet Ski Locker

Member
I have a 2001 Pulse 185 and every time I take it out I come back with a wet ski locker. The only place the water could be coming from would be the drain plug, right? I have tried a couple different types of plugs but still have the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem and if so how did you correct it?

The factory forgot to seal the outer part of my drain plug, so even with the plug in, I had about a gallon every 45 seconds comeing in to the bilge. I simply had to put some slicone in the hole and re-insert the outer sleeve of the plug and let it cure for a day. That fixed my water problem...

On the smaller boats you also will get a little through the hull-deck seam at the rub rail back by the transom. This use to happen to me with my Pulsare because it sits so low. I would just get a little bit, but it bothered me. I sealed up the seam with 3m fiberglass sealant.

I had that problem with my tri-mate, but it was due to the 27 holes drilled in the transom and rotten wood.

Hey Craig,

Do you boat above or below Dubuque? We are usually on the beach across from Waupaton on the weekends. I saw a Pulsare out there yesterday (8/17). Was it you? Nice to see some other Checkmates on the Mississippi. I'm sure you are well aware there are far too many Baja's in our area.

Drex,
Yep that was me. I stopped in on my way back from Casseville. We use to sit at Waupaton beach all the time, but there just isn't much beach left there anymore. Started going up to the Casseville beaches more often a couple years ago. I'm still around Waupaton quite a bit, sometimes back there in Hurricane Shute. Maybe I'll see you around.

I'm guessing you must be that red Pulse I see sometimes?

-Craig

Hey Craig,

The red Pulse is not me but I do know the guy who owns it. I have a white and blue Pulse. Maybe I'll see you out there this weekend.
